Hey guys,

I made it up to that tobacco shop I talked about in the other thread and much to my dismay they didn't have the peterson tobacco we made the drive to get. They really didn't have much tobacco at all. They had the big tins of peterson's summer 2010 blend but the price was way out of my price range. They did have dunhill's morning pipe and it was very tempting but I passed it over. At 14 bucks a tin I wanted to read some reviews and at least find out what was in it. The tin doesn't really give anything in the way of what type of tobacco is in the tin.

Long story short, I decided on just 1 oz of something called Virgina Gold. I figured it would hold me over until my tin of Brair Fox will get here. I'm new to the whole Virigina tobacco thing, but I have to say this a very good blend. For the price of 2.50 an oz it almost seems to good to be true. After this oz I have here is gone I think I may go buy a bunch of this stuff and cellar it. I can't seem to find any reviews for it online though. Anyone have any clue what this could be?

I think only your tobacconist would know for sure. There's an even chance it's a Lane Ltd. bulk blend. Is it a ribbon or flake?
I didn't find the name at TobaccoReviews.com.
Which reminds me, if anyone has a link for Lane's catalog of tobaccos, I'd appreciate a post for it. Thanks.

Cortez, I could not find a listing of Lane Ltd's offerings. I suspect we'll have to wait until they are fully incorporated into Scandanavian Tobacco. The ST site does list their pipe tobaccos but has not been updtaed to include the Lane products yet.

I'm hoping that the new owners will bring back some of the discontinued blends from years ago.

Could make for an interesting article, Kevin.

Sounds like an aeromatic or cased blend, in wich case it would not improve if you cellar it, just store and enjoy the tobacco for what it is.

Cortez, et al, here's a 1946 Lane Ltd catalog. Some really interesting blends that have disappeared over the years.

Dunhill Early Morning Pipe has Virginia, Oriental, and Latakia tobaccos in it.
Here is my review of it:
