What is the best way to smoke this tobacco? This is my first attempt at a flake tobacco and so far I can't get it to smoke well. I broke it up and filled my pipe the way I do with aro blends. I just couldn't get this to stay lit. The flavor was quite pleasant and I would like to enjoy it without constant relighting. I was thinking I should let it dry out a bit, but I'm unsure.

Welcome Sfexeter,

There are three or four different ways to prepare flake.

You can cut it up, or fold and stuff, and you can "rub it out".

If you look in the right column of the forum page, scroll down just below the site sponsor list, you will find a list of videos.

There are a couple of good videos about the preparation of flake tobaccos.

Don't sweat having difficulty with flake tobaccos, I've never been that successful with keeping them lit either.

However; one possible remedy would be to let it dry for half hour, or longer.

The dryer the better. IMHO. I seem to have better success when I let them dry out a bit.

Good luck, and I hope that is of material assistance to you.

Thanks Lawrence.
I rubbed it out so to speak and it actually filled quite nicely. I had a good draw and was expecting an easy light. I did notice that the tobacco seemed more "tacky" than what I have tried before. I am thinking that it was mainly a moisture issue, or maybe it needs to be packed even more loosely. I think my first tweek will be allowing it to air out for a bit as you suggest.
