This is one of the few pipes I've collected over the past few years. I know very little about it besides the nomenclature and the fact it's unsmoked.

Is it anything other than a good ol' basket pipe?

I'm not sure I'll be much help here, but I bought a new Gefapip back in the late 1980s and it was from under the counter, not a basket pipe. The store had a few, and said they were a well made pipe from France. Mine was a Canadian shape with a smooth finish.

I didn't know much about them then and don't know much more now, but I always thought it was a good smoker. Sadly it was one of many I sold in the mid 90s.

Yours looks like a nice pipe, and I like the looks a lot. You gonna smoke it?
