EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9)

Hi,
So as the thread title reads, I’m in need of some help identifying a pipe I recently acquired.
I have messaged savinelli and sent them an email, as well as messaging some YTPC people on other apps, but no replies.

The pipe itself appears to be a savinelli 413KS shape. It has a black acrylic stem which a savinelli logo stamped on the top of it. It came with a bowl plug, similar to what is seen in the Tortuga line, but it’s definitely not that model. Here’s where it gets confusing & I can’t find a single thing online regarding... the bottom of the pipe is stamped “Briar and Bean”. I have no idea what this is, aside from finding a coffee&tobacco shop in Indiana. Also on the bottom, it is stamped “Savinelli product” “Italy” and not just “Savinelli”, so it’s making me think this is some sort of sub brand or a pipe made specifically to whatever Briar and Bean may be?

Has anyone seen Savinelli pipes similar to this? Maybe not briar and bean but “Savinelli product”?
I’m at a loss and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s some pics to help! Many pipe manufacturers make pipes for shops. This one is obviously one Savinelli made for the Briar and Bean shop. I've owned several Tinder Box pipes made by many different pipe makers. They aren't usually so obvious, though. Most don't put "made by__" or "__ product ", so you are fortunate to have no doubt of the maker on this one. Nice looking pipe!

Thank you!! That was kind of my thought but I wasn’t sure. Not a lot of info on this Briar and Bean shop.. so I found it odd they would have savinelli make a pipe for them? But maybe it’s more common than I realized. Btw, although it’s light, I’m a clencher and that 413KS bowl shape is a monster. Not positive on if I’m keeping this one or not.
Thanks again for the info!

In the semi-rural NorthEastern USA
nice pipe. Yes it's really common for shops to have pipes made for them. Personally I'd keep it but I personally try not to clench if possible. And that said I don't find heavy pipes uncomfortable for that. I clench my lumberman and that pipe probably weighs more. The trick is to let it dangle more then to grip it with your teeth.

The pipe is also a Savinelli Tortuga model, you are correct.

I think I'd rather have a pipe marked "Savinelli" than "Briar and Bean".
Well it technically does still have savinelli on it. Plus the stem logo. I thought this whole pipe was odd.. it almost seems like it’s pieced together from different model lines.

This ^^^

I was unaware they made the Tortuga in this shape. Also I’ve never seen a Tortuga with a black stem. Thought it was always the tortoise?

When pipe manufacturers make "House Pipes" they will sometimes use a preexisting model and make small changes to it to make it unique for the shop that they are making it for.

A shop who buys a specific model line from Savinelli can customize some parts including the stem color. Otherwise, the finish, mortise ring and acrylic cap are all consistent with a Tortuga.

Interestingly, a sponsor worked with Savinelli to create a tribute to one of our members who passed away which was loosly based off of a current production pipe. It could be attributed to a specific model line though it had a few irregularities.

EDIT: I took a lot longer to post but it's exactly as python says.

Thanks so much for the info. Really helpful. I knew it was a Savinelli and found similarities to the Tortuga and other pipes... the stamping is what really threw me, but makes total sense.
Seems I got a good deal on it then. We’ll see how it smokes!
