Hello Pipe smokers,

I have been a loose tobacco smoker for 37 years and I have decided to get a pipe. I need a little guidance, and I hope that you can direct me towards a good quality pipe to start with.

Nice to meet you!
Geoff

Welcome aboard from Central Kentucky! What price range are you looking at for a starter pipe?

I'm thinking of up to £100, I've seen some nice models in that range (peterson) but I don't know what size bowl is ideal for me, I am a keen smoker and I'm sure it will get a full day's use.

Savinelli and Peterson offer many pieces in that category, and are both excellent brands. Just starting out I would recommend a chamber depth of no more than 38mm.
