Newbie pipe smoker here. Just want to say hi and thanks for the info I have gleaned so far. Been smoking aros so far and looking to get my feet wet with a non aro soon. Doing this for leisure and aromatherapy lol. I'm not in it for the nicotine. I started with 1-Q at too high a price. $15 for a tin at local shop!! Then got some Smoker Friendly Jamaican Rum. Most recently ordered some Vanilla Black Cavendish and BCA. Really love that VBC! Just ordered some more of that and some Chocolate Mousse and Black Raspberry. Any suggestions for a mild low nic non aromatic?

Welcome to the forums! I'm new also (about 5 weeks). I started with English blends and one you might enjoy that is non-aro but a good one to transition from aro to non-aro is Gawith Hogarth & Co. Scotch Mixture. Has a great tin note and is fairly mild. You can by it from Smokingpipes for as little as 1 ounce. In fact, I just noticed it is on sale. Note sure how long.

Welcome! A good crossover blend from aro to English would be Kramer's Blend For Cary Grant. It's a good way to see if you might like an English or perhaps Balkan blend but it's still a mild aromatic.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was actually looking at Gawith Hogarth & Co. Scotch Mixture earlier and added it to wishlist at smokingpipes. The 15% bulk disco is tempting me, as well as the newbie discount. Just picked me up a pretty cool pipe stand w/ humidor off ebay. Holds 10 pipes, and I have 2 currently. The way I see it, that creates incentive!

retro', welcome aboard. There are so many good non-aromatics, a world of them. If you'd like to indulge in a premium tin of tobacco as an introduction, I'd suggest Nat Sherman 536, from online retailers, or you can buy it in bulk from Nat Sherman in NYC. This is a pleasantly mild English blend with burley, a really refined example of English blends. Or if you prefer bulk tobacco online, Peter Stokkebye English Luxury is another milder blend. Buy in small quantities at first, even if you really like something, so you can try around a lot. Don't hurry the process. Enjoyment is the goal, I think.

I've been buying ounces at a time. The only thing so far I ordered more of was the Vanilla Black Cavendish. As I can see myself smoking that for sometime, as well as blending it. In addition to the Kramer's Cary Grant I ordered an oz each of Cornell & Diehl Autumn Evening, Sutliff Pumpkin Spice, and Newminster No.31 Optimal Choice. However I just received an email stating out of stock of the newminster. I'm saddened to hear of McClelland closing up since there seemed to be so many that I would have liked to tried. Such is life.
