Welcome! I'd advise you against buying Chinese made pipes such as Scotte, Joyoldelf, and Muxiang, they're usaully of made of potentially toxic mystery wood. Don't get me wrong there's some Chinese artisan pipe makers who make great work but their stuff is way out of a beginner's budget.

American guy in China. Never smoked or had a pipe but decided to take it up. Just purchased an East Africa meerschaum near my age, I think. Hope to show it to you all and get advice on refurbishment.
Welcome from Ludlow, UK. I have three of those lads, too - a Barling, a Kiko and a Jambo. Good smokers, all. I look forward to seeing yours.

I came close to a Muxiang, but nope. Glad I didn't. My wishes are Africa Meer (acquired), and a Radice Silk Cut.
