Hi Everyone!
I'm very new to pipe smoking. I quit ciggrettes over 6 years ago, but missed the enjoymnet of smoking. I didn't like the vaping setup, so after years of consideration I took the plunge and got my first pipe.
I can say so far it is very enjoyable, I'm not a huge fan of my initial tobacco choice (Old Port) but it dose take me backto the cigarillo days.

Hey Buddy!
Welcome! I am originally from Shelburne NS (haven't lived in NS for 25 years though...) Great to see you on here. What part of the province are you from? Tough place to start the hobby but it is worth it! Enjoy!

Welcome Brian.
There's certainly more enjoyable stuff than Old Port around. And importing pipe tobacco is cheaper no matter what than buying at a local convenience store (assuming you don't have a proper tobacconist on the corner). Have a look at 4noggins.com, smokingpipes.com etc. There's a vast world of excellent leaf out there.
Canadian pipe smokers are often isolated - even if the guy next door is a pipe smoker you might not know it.

Welcome aboard! If you ever get down to the U.S., that's the time to pick up tobacco, or so I hear from our Canadian members. Did you get the tailwind from Hurricane (and then Tropical Depression) Florence? We're still getting flooding in the eastern part of North Carolina from the days of heavy rainfall, rivers still crested some places, though we were lucky here in Central N.C.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, I live in Cole Harbour, I have yet to see / meet another pipe smoker. I emailed Jeff at 4noggins and he made some suggestions so I order a few grams of Lain 1Q and some Tewksbury Hobbits Weed.
I seen on the news NC is in bad shape, I hope everyone stays safe down that way. I wouldn't say we got any tail winds from Florance.

Sas', it depends. More than once I was hit real hard in the past (and recently). The total cost (order, shipping, custom fees, taxes, etc) made the tobaccos more expensive than if I would have bought them at the tobacconist.

Of course, these, err, excesses, are not the norm.

New Scotland is great. There was (still is? ) ferry service between Halifax and Bar Harbor, ME. Sailed up the St. John's River, but that's in New Brunswick. Who claims Grand Manan?

Welcome! I'm also new to pipes. Just tried Lane 1-Q yesterday for the first time and enjoyed it.
I once lived in the State of Maine and had plans to move to Nova Scotia. Never made it, though.
