Hello to all, I bought my first pipe in the seventies, Dr. Grabow and some Borkum Riff but didn't really get into pipes that much until the eighties. Done with cigarettes since 1999 and I stick with Copenhagen Snuff and pipes with an occasional good cigar now days. I live in NC and am retired. I like the burleys best but I like Plum Pudding, Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake, and some of the Balkan blends. By far my favorites are the burleys though. During the day I smoke milder OTC brands like SWR and PA but after 5:00 I like a glass of good scotch and Old Joe Krantz. Right now I'm smoking PA out of a Dr. Grabow Freehand. My favorite pipe is an old estate Pickwick Arms apple. I prefer buying estate pipes to new pipes. Glad to be here and looking forward to meeting some of you.

Welcome to the forums! I'm from NC also, born and raised, making a life by hewing my way through engineering designs. I do have to say I just got my first batch of the LNF a couple of weeks ago and am loving it. Might be one to cellar for me for sure. I smoke about anything during the day and then might have a little something stronger in the evening. Since getting some G&H Rum Twist, I might be making that my evening smoke. Just had my first bowl on Friday and I'm sad I didn't buy 5 pounds worth. Welcome again and look forward to hearing more from you!

Welcome from Kentucky! It's nice to gain some more experienced members to share info, though I've found that no matter how long you've been smoking, there's lots of stuff to learn around here.

Welcome aboard. I'm North Carolinian since 1972, after rattling around in college and Navy for years.

Yeh, sorry, we hit our quota of North Carolinians already. Unless you can find someone from Kentucky to switch with you or if you can move to South Dakota, you'll have to wait for someone to die or quit.
We used to have more turnaround of North Carolinians, with folks flaming out, poli-talking, or just plain lack of long-term interest. But, since we have so many really well rounded NC-ians that are good people, and well behaved, that we just have too many of them. I might suggest that you challenge one to a dual, or maybe just murder one of them. Whichever...
Well, until you get this sorted out, you could try "lurking". But, be careful, there are some weird people "lurking" out there. :puffy:
Welcome aboard, hopefully, you're a good sport.

Welcome fromColorado high country. I spent many of my misguided early years wandering around Boone, and Bevard before I got educated. I thought most of you NC folk liked the herb tabacco rather than the Burley. Maybe it was just the Misty Mountain Boys I knew.

Ha ha. The weed smokers used to be centered around Chapel Hill. I live at the other end of the state on the Pungo River. Colorado is an awesome state. I went out there in 1999 and climbed (hiked actually) Huron Peak and Wetterhorn Peak and it almost killed me from exaustion.

I guess it's because tobacco built NC. I was raised on a farm and cropped tobacco which taught me that I did not like to work. My Dad was a buyer and plant manager for Export Leaf and affiliate of British American. Today it's rare to see a tobacco field around here but fifty years ago tobacco was the king. I miss the smell of the tobacco warehouses when you would drive by them. That smell cannot be put into words.
