Hello all and greetings from MN. I smoked a pipe in my high school days and had many happy times burning my tongue with various aromatics. I then took a break from the pipe for some years until I received my uncles collection of pipes. I have since (a year or so ago) starting regularly smoking a pipe again and have learned so much by browsing this forum and tobaccoreviews. I figured it was about time I joined to say thank you to all, and see if I can't also contribute in some small way. I'm smoking some Black Frigate as I write this, a blend I would not have known to try if it had not been for this forum :)

Tall ships and tall kings,

Three times three,

What brought they from the foundered land,

Over the flowing sea?

Seven stars and seven stones and one white tree.
Welcome, from Minnesota's southern, flatter, duller neighbor. I am one of many here delivered to the hobby by our favorite philologist.

Welcome! High tobacco taxes in MN so not an easy place to smoke a pipe. I'd be interested to know the pipe shops you frequent.

I guess I don't even know what the MN tobacco tax is. Most of the time I go to Briar Patch across the river in WI. Unfortunately they didn't have a single bulk English last time I was in. I have been going for the latakia blends lately. They also didn't have a single tin of pipe tobacco. But a nice selection of cigars and great coffee. Good people too. I have also stopped at Big Apple in Forest Lake MN. They have a great selection of pipe tobacco and were very helpful. I only stop occasionally when I visit family near there.

OK, you're south of where I visited. MN's pipe tobacco tax is 95% which is STEEP. I've been to shops in the MSP area through Eau Claire, WI. I was able to pick up a number of tins from an outfit I won't name but the owner ran into some trouble not paying his tobacco taxes. This outfit still has a fair amount of McClelland in bulk and some aged tins so PM me if you want some more information.

I will keep my eyes open for the Balkan supreme next time I am in. Maybe they were just sold out. No latakia blends of any kind last time. On the pirate theme I enjoy pirate kake as well.

Welcome... you can get fitted for your leisure forum wear at your convenience at the kiosk in the middle. Or, else someone will be along shortly... :puffy:

Welcome from Alabama.

Welcome, I'm from southeastern MN and used to run the pipe club that used to meet at The Briar Patch in La Crosse. I haven't been there in maybe 3 years or so. I hear they have a nice smoking lounge.
If you need any english blends to try, let me know. Maybe we can do a meetup somewhere with daveinlax. He's one of my pipe smoking besties! And lord knows I have more than enough to share!
