Hello

I have been ghosting these pages for some time now in the manner of Condor or some other Lakeland tobacco, so I thought it time to say hello.

I have been a pipe smoker, on and off, since my 20's and for some 25 years now. I have built up a large collection of pipes (and tobacco!). My favorites are Dunhill (over represented in my collection), Tom Eltang, Tao, Nording hand mades, Peterson and Castello. I swing in a wide arc between the classic Dunhill shapes and the exuberance and creativity of Danish pipes. However, I'm still learning and I still feel like a novice so I think I will benefit from the advice of some of the experienced members here.

My wife hates smoking of all types which means that I sometimes have to be secretive with my pipe addiction. However, secret pleasures are often more enjoyable!

I live in London and Hertfordshire, Eaglesgift - (near Berkhamsted), so not a million miles from Hertford. Currently, I'm enduring the lockdown in Hertfordshire - it's a lot quieter than London !

If you need tips for hiding your pipes from your wife then I may be able to help!

Thanks, I might take you up on that offer. I think my cousin still lives in Hemel, so she’s just down the road from you. I started life in London and migrated as a youngster. I miss London more than Hertford if I’m being honest.

London certainly has its consolations - the decent range of tobacconists being one! When you are next in London visit the basement of the Dunhill store at Bourdon House - best range of Dunhills in the UK.

Thank you. My wife wasn’t overjoyed when she discovered I’d accumulated over 50 safety razors and straight razors. If I go the same way with pipes I’m definitely going to hide them.

Ah, Herts! Spent a school year in Hertford a looooong time ago. Great country!.
