Facilitated a trade- can anyone confirm the Gawith Blend I had up for trade with a St. Bruno RR pouch?
I deleted the thread- don't know if a mod can recover the listing
Id prefer to show him that he recalls the listing incorrectly and is mistaken

Is it not in your private messages?

Incidentally, this is one reason I believe deleting sale threads is a less than well thought out idea. The other is that we will not have a running record of sales prices. Of course old posts are considered gauche here...

The site provides the sales area as a courtesy, not a running record of sale prices/sales discussions.

Just like the bulletin boards at the grocery store years ago, stuff gets removed after a period of time. Disk storage costs money. Somebody could always screen shot the discussion if they have a concern. And of course any business conducted is caveat emptor…

The corollary is not valid here. The site has been known as a place to research pipes and tobaccos. When we take even a part of that away, we lose one more asset of the pipe community and make it smaller. It is shrinking and I know I'm stupid for thinking it shouldn't be accelerated by our main forum.

You serious…?

Prices are in a constant state of flux. And doing searches here to try and figure out how much to charge for something you want to sell is counterproductive. The amount of hits the server takes and how many times the server has to spin up doing repetitive searches is a waste of resources.

As serious as you were when you equated this site to a grocery store. I already said I'm stupid for wanting to preserve any bit of pipe related history I can. I'm a moron for it. I just like all the historical context I can get and we are closing it off so it can't be gotten. Again, I'm an idiot for wanting that.

Obviously you are mischaracterizing what I stated. The area of the site that is set aside for such transactions, as a bulletin board, not a grocery store. Not the whole site.

I think it was a mutual misunderstanding of motives. I love preserving any history I can. I think you were commenting on the transitory nature of what you see the sale section to be.

Interestingly enough, for 5 years of my membership here, it was a legitimate platform for buying and selling and kept good records for those of us who bought and sold pipes regularly. Things change, but sometimes the changes are not in the interest of the past.

That's not been my experience here. And I joined in April of 2017, not that carries any weight. Granted sometimes the adds tend to pile up, but they get deleted at a certain point. And the "trader" section is not provided as an E-Commerce site.

In my opinion saving all the adds would be like collecting junk mail.
