Haven't had a bowl in a week

Sucks having a flu.
It just started easing up during the weekend so I just might have one tonight. Something crazy entered my mind during the week: What if there was a tobacco with eucalyptus flavor or essence designed for people with a cold? I bet that would open up the sinuses. Something like Vic Vaporub, perhaps.
I also wonder what it will taste like to have a bowl now. Has the flavor have changed?

Sorry to hear that. This is definitely cold and flu season, I know a lot of people who've gotten sick, including my entire household.
Pipe smoking is less pleasant, you can't smell the smoke very well.
Hasn't stopped me though ::

I had a week off due to flu a little while ago. The bowl of Three Nuns i had afterwards was one of the nicest i've ever had!
Since then i have discovered snuff however. A pinch of good menthol snuff is wonderful for a stuffy nose!
I know there have been menthol pipe tobaccos made, but don't know any commercial blends...

I miss the after dinner ritual of a pipe and coffee and a good TV show, or the weekend morning ritual of browsing news on the iPad with coffee & pipe. Cigs aren't really a good substitute.

You mean snuff you sniff like cocaine? The other kind, sweidsh "snus" is illegal to buy here for some strange reason.

juni - Yes snuff you sniff (not snort like cocaine). There's no evidence for any ill health effects, unlike snus which has high rates of oral cancers apparently (hence the legal status).
Snuff does wonders for a blocked nose, and gives that vitamin N hit without taxing the throat.

As far as i know the menthol pipe tobaccos now are nothing more than ribbon cut RYO tobacco

One of our local BMs sell nose snuff by Sam Gawith (like Kendal Brown Scented). It would actually be fun to try.

If you have never had snuff before, it is just fantastic. A good menthol snuff will clear your sinuses right up, and when taken properly it is a wonderful experience. Try this: the first time you go to do snuff, dont sniff or snort the tobacco at all, but rather, get a small amount of powder onto your index finger, then just sort of wipe it on the inside of your nostril, almost like you are picking your nose. If you have company over, I would recommend doing this in the bathroom as it looks a little gross, but it is a great way to snuff and makes the scents come alive.
