When I say "mistake" blends I mean blends that were a result of either a mistake with the base tobaccos or a mistake in mixing a blend. I have two. The first is #416 Plantation Evening from C&D that Craig Tarler has said was the result of a blending mistake. It is a terrific medium English that is a great all day smoke. The other is Anniversary Kake from Pipes and Cigars. Russ says that they ordered a batch of red VA but got everything from lemon through brown. The aroma of the tobacco was "amazing" to quote his description so they combined it with some St. James Perique and came up with one of my favorite VA/Pers. I believe it is also their top selling H&H tobacco. So, has anyone else ever smoked a "mistake" blend that they liked?

Not so much a "mistake blend" but I have found an interesting combination thanks to the ghosting of flavours. I smoke Sam Gawith Squadron Leader in the same pipe as their Grousemoor blend. I find the slight hint of Latakia left behind from the Squadron Leader English Blend really adds something special to the Grousemoor.

I like the ghosting effect as well. I don't tend to dedicate certain pipes to certain blends so I have a slew of haunted pipes. I regularly encounter all sorts of pleasant mistakes. :puffy:
