Boy, it's quite an attainment to create something that is truly original for television, and Larry along with Jerry managed to do that. I assume they are more than set for life, long since. TV series of all kinds seem to come off an assembly line, making incremental changes following the same paths, including borrowed characters and sequels all along.

Seinfeld (whether you like it or not, and there are some reasons not to) is a remarkable comedy of manners. You have to go back to Moliere and Oscar Wilde to pick up the thread on its incisive social satire. Banality and brilliance in the same work. So, Happy Birthday, Larry. You old geezer and age-mate.

L.D. belongs in the rarefied company of some of the great satirists and comedy writers of all time. His work on Seinfeld and Curb is frequently brilliant. Even the name Curb Your Enthusiasm makes me laugh as it started out as his response to eager Seinfeld fans longing for another show. My favorite Curb episodes include Palestinian Chicken, The Seder, The ski Lift and the survivor. Palestinian chicken and The Survivor are extraordinary pieces of work which show Larry's ability to create humor and take real chances with sensitive subjects. LOL and no matter what....Happy birthday Larry!

Seinfeld was at once a hilarious and delightful character-driven comedy, and a scathing commentary on our narcissistic and neurotic society and meaningless culture.

EDIT: I would add that Seinfeld is now obsolete (as is pretty much all satire) because the period it existed in and reflected was sane and comprehensible compared to the lunatic asylum our society has now become. And much of the comedy they did is now seen as "politically incorrect".

I would like to write a more meaningful tribute to the maestro Larry David on his 75th although I am finding it hard to sit still at the moment as I have a tickle someplace that I should not specify here although I can specifically say where it is.
