Lawrence, I might be a bit ignorant when it comes to classical music ... do you know the name of the ditty being played in the first video?
And since you can't see what's going on, where'd the audio from the 2nd video come from?

Thanks gentlemen we all appreciate it.
The first is Semper Fidelis, composer was John Philip SoUSA.

The second was recorded on one of the grinders, either MCRD (Marine Corps Recruit Depot) Parris Island, MCRD San Diego. Probably PI because there is no jet noise. MCRD SD is close to the San Diego Airport.

Lawrence:
Thank you for being part of that Long Green Line. One of my twins sons is a Marine option on a U.S.N. scholarship at the University of Kansas and your beloved Corps is in good hands, friend.
I've met a number of the parents of my son's fellow cadets and the collective advice we're dispensing to our kiddos is STFU, listen to your NCOs and bring your people home safely.
God bless you, Chesty, and Semper Fi,
Fnord

Those were the days. It was hardest to keep a straight face. The stuff the drill instructors said was over the top hilarious. Good times.

I actually enjoyed boot camp.

I knew exactly what to expect.

From the unfair getting into trouble to the ear splitting shouts of the Drill Instructors.

My Dad was a Drill Instructor and a Senior Drill Instructor, so I got the low down.
From the limits on the number of exercises they were permitted in a single session, and the rest times.

However; there was always the "So, we don't want to do them right! Good! We'll start over!"

Always just short of the maximum for some odd reason. :D
Nothing happens in boot camp that isn't on the training schedule.

I hated popping blankets.

I hated "scuzz brush the bulkhead, aye aye sir". Popping those blankets killed my allergies! The DI's named it green hornet or something like that.
