Im glad to be here. I have given the pipe thing a try here and there since i was a kid. Im 27 and starting to do more research and getting it figured out. I also just bought myself a Savinelli 626 "spring" and have been enjoying Elizabethan Mixture and Early Morning pipe.

Nice choices. I really like my two Savinellis. Even if you're dead set on smoking only briars, I recommend filling out your collection with at least a handful of cobs, unless and until you can acquire some more good briars

Welcome! I'm new here and also from SW PA. I just started smoking pipe about 4 weeks ago. Been learning a lot on the forums.

Thanks lawdawg. I have a few cobs as well that's pretty much all I smoked since I got my Sav. They are fantastic

Techie glad to see someone local!
I'm in the Pittsburgh area. Any shops in the area you recommend? There's a small shop in Sewickley but he appears to be phasing out pipes and pipe tobaccos. I've heard about Allegheny Smokeworks but they're a bit of a drive for me.

Welcome! I picked up the sutliff match blend of Elizabethan and it's very good, if you find the original to be not around. People say it's closer to how Elizabethan used to taste decades ago so even if your not out of the genuine article mb give it a try. At $2 an oz u can smoke it endlessly. Only thing is mine arrived so moist I left the bag open for three days next to the a.c. and it's still just as moist so I use a good filter with it and all is well.

Guess I'm not sure what you're wanting to do. Other than what I just said, you could send a private message I suppose.

I am from Latrobe we have Tobacco Village at Westmoreland mall. That's where I bought a few tins of Dunhill. It's not too bad for a local place and wouldnt be a bad place to stop if you are in the area. As far as pipes go they dont have a whole lot.i do plan to take a ride to smoke works when I have the time.
