Hello everyone!
I´m scottish,41 years old, living in Germany and working in the Netherlands.

I´ve got two Kids,2 Dogs, a cat and my wife owns a huge horse(german coldblood)

I´m a pipesmoker since 2007 with a few short breaks inbetween. The last few years I sold all my briar pipes

and changed to corncobpipes. I´m more into tobacco then into pipes. I love the corncobs. Not much work with them

and the right size for a wee smoke. Most of the time I smoke outdoors when I`m walking with the dogs.

My favourite tobaccos are heavy latakiablends and light aromatics. Va/Pers are also welcome and in my rotation.

My brother-in-law has dual Dutch and U.S.citizenship and teaches at a Dutch school to help the kids of Dutch business people living in the U.S. maintain their Dutch language skills and cultural knowledge so they will feel at home when they go back to The Netherlands. I'm up in Essen on the side near Hattingen. Not working for the miltary. I was doing biology research in Africa when I met the German woman who has become my wife. She is from this part of Germany so we are here for now.

Where do you purchase your tobacco from?

Unfortunately Tabak Schilde has closed. Mostly I have been ordering tobacco online from Peter Heinrichs and others (for HU). It appears that the tobacco shops in Essen are either of the cigarette/lottery variety or else Wolsdorff.

Didn´t know that with Tabak Schilde. I purchase most of my tobaccos from Estervals Pipe House.

Peter Heinrichs I usually buy the bulks of Dark Strong Kentucky. I don´t know if it´s still possible but on sunday you can visit his shop in Bergheim (Chateau). Nice smoking lounge and a pipe museum....

I've heard good things about that shop in Bergheim. 170 house blends to sample on the spot not to mention all the blends from others they have on hand. It's close but with the new child coming I don't want to risk being away when the big moment happens. If you get to the Bergheim shop please write about your experience here!

I live in Washington State, not DC. Only time I have been to Germany was an overnight layover in Leipzig. I am married with 2 kids home and two grown. Wife and I have 4 dogs, but one is a mastiff so he is like a horse... :D.
