Hello everyone!
I have been a member of this community for years but have been on hiatus. I recently re-discovered my pipe, and I am happy to be back.
I smoked my first pipe almost two decades ago. Back in those days, with virtually no guidance, my roommate and I would grab a bag of whatever was being recommended to us by the cigar aficionado at our local Tinder Box. We'd bring home a bag of 1-Q, sit on our postage-stamp of a side porch, smoke it way too hot, and pretend to enjoy it. Formative years, indeed.
My first pipe was a Peterson 314, hence the name, and I still have it. I have dedicated that one to aromatics, which I do still enjoy from time to time. However, nowadays, I tend to gravitate toward English and Balkan blends. But I'll try anything once and most things twice.
I don't smoke very often. The Boss isn't a fan, and she was there before the pipe. So how that translates into my pipe experience is that I spend a lot of time online in pipe communities, cruising online shops for new pipes and blends that I do not need, and smoking when the stars align. I don't have a favorite blend or a regular blend, and my cellar will probably outlast me already. That hasn't stopped the cellar from growing, though. I think y'all know the drill.
Briars:
- Peterson 314
- Peterson Sherlock
- Peterson Mycroft
- Savinelli 673
Likes:
- Hearth and Home - Ten to Midnight
- Mac Baren - Scottish Mixture
- GL Pease - Westminster
- GL Pease - Gaslight
- Peterson - Nightcap
- All the black Cavendishes. BCA, Sutliff B20, Cap'n Dark...
Dislikes:
- C&D - Autumn Evening. Sorry, I really really REALLY hate that blend.
- Sutliff - Creme Brule
- Any straight Virginia. I want to like them. I am trying. I just don't get it.
Cheers y'all!
