Found my Greatg Granfathers pipes,he passed in 1972 and here is what brands they are specific years they were made, not sure.

Royal House Limited

Rembrandt

Dr Grabow - Riviera

Dr Grabow - Starfire

Kaywoodie - Drinkless
They all were heavy used except for the Kaywoodie Drinkless. It's been used very little. I was wondering if I could still use the Kaywoodie as my first pipe instead of buying one? Maybe using all of them. Are they quality enough for a first good pipe? Or should I just spend $100-$200 for a new one?

The Kaywoodie is the best of the lot mate, and it is a pretty good one. Clean er up and u got a good smoker there. Better than many of todays' $100.00 pipes. On a side note, I, myself, would remove the stinger, but some people don't.

Smoke them, and remember the old man when you do. Other than hand tools, books, guns, and maybe a car, what other things can a man pass so easily from one generation to the next?

Excellent !

Treasure those things. Smoke them, but take good care of them. They will last you a long time and will undoubtedly bring great memories. And you can add your own for your grandkids one day.

The Grabows and the Kaywoodie are definitely good first pipes.
Congrats

Smoke 'em all. Plenty of "how to" here on getting them ready. I leave my stingers in, some take 'em out as regards the Kay. As for the Royal Hse. Ltd., these were available via coupon by Velvet tobacco. Of course they were for sale elsewhere as well, but if gramps smoked Velvet, it's a cool story from a time gone by! Enjoy!!

Thanks a lot all of you for your input, ill clean them up and use one or two. It will definitely be a heavy moment once I puff on one of great grandpa's pipes. Just knowing he only smoked them and ill be the 2nd person. I wonder if he ever thought his great grandson would have them, better yet use them. He passed in 72 and i was born in 80,so i missed meeting him. but its as i know him from what my father says,im lucky to have even that. Appreciate all the input bros :)

The old Grabows and 'Woodies are simply good ol' American pipes. I've got a Starfire that belonged to a good friend's dad (hadn't been smoked in 50+ years) and I love it. Got a friend at school who's go-to is a Kaywodie with the stinger, smokes well if you keep it clean. Enjoy, those are some awesome pipes to have!

Welcome to forum, Nap125!
I love the fact that you've got your great-grandfather's pipes. I'm unfamiliar with the first two you listed but those last three should provide solid burners for you. And, even if they don't, I'd still polish those pups and keep them racked nearby where I could always see them whenever I reached for "my" pipe(s).
They will always serve as a link between the two of you.
