no i did not know - but i found one that looked good and it will be here in about a week
this will be my first pipe after smoking the same cheap starter pipe that i picked up for $ 35 over a year ago

it is a Graco SAFARI Billiard from p & c

i posted more info on the new members introductions thread

i can not find out much about graco except pipedia says it was a french co that went out of biz in 1968
i read that someone said that they will not ever get another pipe with vulcanite because of it breaking etc - and since i had trouble with my learner pipe stem breaking several times - like once while playing battlefield 3 - flying in a jet and suddenly wham a stinger missile hit and scared me so bad i bit down and cracked the stem again - oh yeah - i'm supposed to be relaxing while smoking - i am learning slowly
so i decided my next pipe will be lucite -

i really really like the looks of the Savinelli Tundra Smooth 606 EX Billiard but it is back ordered - so i chose the safari
all the way up until AFTER i ordered the safari - i only liked the looks of the billiards - then i suddenly started noticing the GBD AUTUMN GOLD 943810 Rhodesian and the GBD CHANNEL 9438 Rhodesian
maybe one day ...
i don't see a way to post links to other messages - is that a privilege that i have not earned yet ?
when i get the safari - i will post more - that is if i get it - order has not shipped yet and now on the p & c site i see that the pipe is sold out - not back ordered ...
dun duh dun dun
maybe i will not get the safari after all - it does not show in the list of Graco pipes any more but if you do a search there for safari you can see it - sold out

I have a Graco bent pipe and while it isn't among my best pipes it is a pretty good smoker now that it is broken in. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
As for Vulcanite, I have never had a problem with it.

Me neither, and I have done things very similar to your example, you may have had a cheap plastic stem, similar to what is used on grabows and some late kaywoodies, it looks like vulcanite, but it is really plastic. I think you would have a hard time breaking through vulcanite in one chomp.
On the other hand, I looked at the pipe, its pretty sweet, good deal

@edlogic
Vulcanite is pretty good stuff, actually much more comfortable than lucite IMHO, it is just a pain to clean/keep clean.
Enjoy your pipe though, you have to post pics when you get it :puffy:
