I've been watching this Dr. Grabow Linkman Rhodesian fail to sell after a few tries. It is advertised as 40's model at $75 BIN with no takers. It sure looks in excellent shape, but I know nothing about Linkmans or their values.
What is the backstory on this handsome Grabow. Is it a stinger stem?

Ed James where are you??? LOL! It's a sweet pipe. I don't have any Linkmans... yet! I think the $75 might be high. Again, Ed would know.

Seventy-five bones for a Grabow seems steep. Offer the seller $6.50 and a tub of PA.

It's worth a bit more than that. It's a probably a 70+ year old piece of briar with a lot of history behind it. I'll bet your $6.50 and tub of PA it's a good smoker too!

The Linkmans were fine pipes. This one looks like a great example. I believe the few I've seen have all been stinger pipes. My guess is that $75 is the high end of the pipes value, but probably still worth the buy. That guy consistently prices his stuff for the most its worth. Doesnt look like he has Best Offer set up for this one. You might try asking if he'd accept $55 for it. I'd mention the fact that the stem looks a bit offset from the shank :D If you're just in love with the shape, $75 is probably not too much to pay, the restoration on the piece looks very good.

This guy always puts a premium price on his pipes it seems. That is a nice little 33 Linkmans. They can be bought for much less.I'd say $30.00 to $40.00 for this one. It is a Deluxe, not a Supreme or Select Grain.

AL, I just bought a Deluxe 33 on Ebag. Granted it ain't as purty as the other guys, but it will be. I'm glad the other Grabow freaks were either asleep at the wheel or hanging back because they knew I wanted it. It's a very rare "West Coast Briar" Deluxe. At present I know of five of these, and I paid much less than what that other pipe is listed for.

I would gladly pay $50 for it but that is all, and that is a bit high. But, what is it worth to your collection and when would you find another in as good a shape?

Oh yea, can't wait to see that one when you get finished ejames! Now I have to start remembering Grabow model numbers (9733) in addition to GBD's (9242 or 9438)...... But, I just love that stubby Rhodesian shape.

You might keep an eye out for a XX79 also. It is a Rhodesian, with the two beads, and is about the same size as the XX33. That pic wasn't that big on Ebag!
