Im buying what I can for as cheap as I can so that I can use the crappy ones as practice before I put hands on the better ones. im making pretty good progress on practice but now have to set up a speed controlled buffer.
I'll be selling some of my mountain of estates once I'm able to do the full process and can be proud of the results.

Congratulations on your find. Can't beat the price. I hope all goes well for the restoration.

Other than a couple of stem replacements, those should clean up nicely, and look to be in fairly good shape! A few of them have my interest piqued, The Gatlin Burlier pipe, as I visit them at least once a year and I've heard their house pipes are not bad smokers. Then the Jobey, I have a 355 Stromboli that is a fine smoker, then the Purex, simply because it looks interesting! I'd like to see another shot of it, maybe from the side, it just looks cool!

That is one interesting pipe. I have a pipe that has "certified purex" on it. However the maker is "LHS" L&H Stern out of New York. The stamping is very similiar. Might have been a second.

I was unsure as the picture was off a bit. LHS went out of business in the very early 60's. I will share some pics of my LHS Cavalier Bavarian on monday.

That Gatlinburlier pipe might be the best smoker in the bunch. I actually collect those, and a good many of them are really, really good. GB has sourced to various manufactures over the years, though, so it's kind of a crapshoot unless you know the specific style you're looking for. I never bought one of that line myself so I can't vouch for it, but if I had seen this lot myself I would have jumped on it!

Nice haul to get started or get better at restoration. It's a labor of love when you're soaking, sanding and polishing. The end result make the skint knuckels and burt fingers well worth it.
You may find some good schmoking pipes in the lot, you never know how a pipe is gonna schmoke till you try it.

Also, there are quite a few restoration videos on utube.

I dont think I would subject this lot to my practice tourture. I have some really abused Grabows for that!! (I have nothing against grabows).
Vorhees, that is one really neat looking pipe! I assume the end unscrews for cleanout and maintenance?
