@chasingembers: lol, incredible.
My personal favorite is the "EATR" robot (you can't make stuff like this up). But don't worry, even though it is obviously the ideal solution to cleaning up a post-apocalyptic body-strewn landscape, DARPA promises that is "not their mission".
DARPA'S SELF-FEEDING SENTRY ROBOT IS NOT A MAN-EATER, COMPANY PROTESTS
"WE COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THE PUBLIC'S CONCERN ABOUT FUTURISTIC ROBOTS FEEDING ON THE HUMAN POPULATION, BUT THAT IS NOT OUR MISSION," SAYS CEO

If you talked about this stuff 5 years ago, you would have been written off in an instant as an insane troll. Today, we accept the invasion of AI-driven robots right along side transgender hero celebrities and a president that hates his country and despises the majority of it's citizens. Progress has never been more regressive.

Technology is bad.
My computer is powered by fairy magic and I wait for accidental lightening strikes to light my pipes.

Technology is neutral. The agenda of those funding and/or wielding it is another question. For example, like, oh I don't know...computerized voting machines maybe?
@stvalentine: I'll have to try and take a look at that if I can find the time.

I don't mind letting machines take over all my manual labor type activitys, as I get older I find myself unable to do the things I use to do. If I find the machines sneaking into my tobacco stash and stealing my pipes I will have to terminate them.

True on both counts! I just wanted to post a pro-technology stance in anticipation of the rabidly anti-tech, anti-science rants I was expecting. Which never materialized, so now I'm kind of embarrassed. :oops:
