The last few nights I have been watching on Britbox the newest Maigret series starring Rowan Atkinson. The series consists of four 90 minute episodes. I've never watched or read any Maigret and I really enjoyed the series. I'm hooked on Maigret. Today I'm going to start the 1992 Maigret...

I know we have plenty of Maigret fans here on the forum. The good news is that the complete Maigret collection (52 episodes) starring Rupert Davies is now available to buy on Amazon Prime for $0.99 an episode and they became available on DVD/Blue Ray in October 2021. Might need a special player to watch them here in the states.

I've watched a couple of the Rupert Davies episodes and they're really good. The outdoor scenes were all shot on location in Paris while the indoor scenes were shot in a studio in England.

In the past two years I've watched alot of Maigret and the Michael Gambon Maigret is my favorite followed by the Rupert Davies, Bruno Cremer and then Rowan Atkinson last.

Anyway, if you're a fan of Maigret, check out Rupert Davies.

Yep, there's about seventy of them. They're quick reads, they average about 160 pages.

I’ve been geeking out on the BBC Radio adaptations.

Yesterday I watched The Man on the Eiffel Tower (1949) starring Charles Laughton as Maigret. Directed by Burgess Meredith who also plays Joseph Heurtin.

When the aunt of Edna Wallace (Jean Wallace) is murdered, Inspector Jules Maigret (Charles Laughton) is brought into the case. Initial suspicion is thrown on a knife sharpener (Burgess Meredith), but Maigret soon takes notice of a student, Johann Radek (Franchot Tone), who keeps goading the police. Unfortunately, there is no evidence against Radek. The psychological games between Maigret and Radek escalate as the police narrow in on the killer, leading to a harrowing chase across Paris.

It was a pretty good movie even though I watched a crappy Youtube version of it.
