So for the past year or two we've had this off brand k cup coffee maker. I'm not a fan of K cups I prefer a regular coffee pot. But my wife likes the K cup machine. Anyway the coffee was terrible. I just thought it was the coffee but we went on vacation and this kruieg brand coffee maker was making the same coffee we were use to but it was way better. So when we got home we bought a kruieg and it is indeed making our coffee taste way better than our previous coffee maker. But then I began to realize how much flavor I've been sacrificing with a bad coffee maker and even though my coffee taste better now, it could probably taste way better still. The options are pretty limited with K cups. I was thinking about buying a Nespresso machine maybe for a better more flavorful cup, but still keep the quick convinence. Or go back to a regular coffee pot method and start buying quality coffee. I don't know enough about coffee to know what brands are good. I've been drinking sub par coffee for way too long. I need some coffee advice. What coffee making device are you guys using? And what are some really good coffee brands? And give us a pic if ya want. Here's my new coffee maker. I'm not entirely thrilled with it but it's a big step up from what I was using.1000003865.jpg

I like coffee from a moka pot. Coffee brand wise, my pedestrian taste is happy with Bustelo.

Call me a snob, but nothing good comes out of a Keurig. Had one and gave it away. Convenient as hell, but forget about good coffee. Buy a Technivorm MochaMaster or a Breville Precision brewer and the best beans you can find. Only grind them right before brewing.

That's funny cause I was just looking at these. This one here looks really nice.
Yes, these are pretty nice. I have had mine for 1.5 years now, going strong. The one before this one (different brand) had its handle break due to heat and hard twisting.

We buy the starbucks pike place. Which is okay I guess. I'd really like to find a better more quality coffee k cup. Or like you buy a Moka Pot and find a good quality coffee I can buy in a bag. Which is what I think I'm going to do. Or buy an espresso machine. I want my coffee to look like this. 1000003866.jpg
I want a quality premium good tasting beautiful coffee like this with my pipe or cigar from now on. Cause life's short why settle for poor quality coffee.

These are the top two rated drip coffee makers at Consumer Reports.

Neither are hugely expensive and both bring the water to the correct temperature for a very good extraction.
I have the DCC-3200 and I love it.

Best coffee ever, using a French press. 🤩
For me it's not best, just different. I have one and use it occasionally when I'm in the mood for that flavor profile. Side note, if you drink more than a cup or so of coffee daily you shouldn't drink French press daily for health reasons. Unfiltered coffee contains two chemicals that aren't healthy, but that will be removed by paper filters.

French press for sure. If you’ve never tried it and you love a good cup of joe, it’s a must.

You can use a filter but I’ve only tried a couple of times.

What are these health reasons you speak of? Never heard that and I’ve had my coffee without filters for well over 20 years.

Beans:
Coffee beans are bonkers expensive now. For me, a good value is the Colombian Supremo whole bean coffee bags at Costco.
Is it the best bean one can purchase? Absolutely not.
Is it really tasty and very inexpensive compared to other options?
Absolutely.

As others have said, NEVER buy pre ground beans. Whole beans are the way if you want to get better coffee. One does have to be cognizant of grind setting and method but to me that’s part of the fun of honing the variables to my liking.

Yes, fresh whole beans are the way to go. 👍🏼

If one drinks SHITLOADS of unfiltered coffee every day, they risk raising their LDL cholesterol and their triglycerides both of which are bad for circulatory system.

I generally use a double walled Bodum Columbia French Press (I like the mouth feel of pressed coffee), but if I were to use a coffee maker, @troutface ’s recommendation of a Technivorm would be the way I would go. Their great reputation is well earned and they’ve long been known for their 203⁰ brewing temperature that will get the best out of freshly ground beans.

They're compounds called diterpenes and they elevate LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. You can do the research and decide whether it's really a risk for you or not.

I was looking at nice grinders yesterday. I've been thinking about this route as well
