Pipe and cigar are two different ways to utilize the tobacco. But , the way they smoke are not the same. You won't get the amount of smoke or cigar flavor out of pipe. You could get "good" amount of smoke, and burn cigar tobacco in a pipe, but not exactly the same. If you really want to stick with pipe, just relax and enjoy the process. Few tips.. Make sure to light all the surface. This gives fuller smoke. Pack just a hair tighter, that gives stronger flavor.

That'll certainly help in the parsing. :sher:

I still enjoy an evening cigar out on the deck weather permitting. Just a different experience is all. I firmly believe one can and should enjoy nicotine in all of its many spendored forms as long as health permits. When health is no longer permitting, I'll still sneak a bowl or stick in when the nurses back is turned.

You should revert if you enjoyed cigars and are not getting a decent experience out of the pipe.

I like cigars once and a while still, but I'm getting away from them more and more. Still got maybe 25 in my humidors left. Just aging away.

I go with the one I enjoy the most. I came to pipe from a six cigar a day habit. Not even tempted to go back. I still smoke cigars while playing golf. That's enough.

I don’t see why we would have to pigeohole ourselves as one or the other. I smoke my pipe or grab a cigar when the mood hits.
If the pipe isn’t satisfying, maybe try some bolder blends, like C&D dark burley or Kellys Coin. C&D has quite the collection of bolder flavors with more punch to them. But, even then, there’s nothing wrong with grabbing a cigar in between.

When it comes to depths of flavors and so many choices with the pipe it was easy for me to get off a 6-8 cigar a day habit. I smoked mostly Cuban cigars as I could buy them a lot cheaper than cigars like a Don Carlos #3 or a Padron Anniversary Exclusivo or a Corona.

When I switched I figured my annual costs on cigars and decided I could buy a 20-25 year cellar of pipe tobacco for only around 18K. I was spending 20k plus on just one years amount of cigars.

Once I got an idea of what tobaccos I liked, the building of the cellar began. I bought most in 2012 and then finished in 2013. Of course I was never done as I added another half dozen or so blends along with some special tins from pipestud. I am now totally done buying pipe tobacco unless some aged tins grab my attention. lol I am a TAD junkie and always will be I guess. I already know I am a PAD junkie.
