After hosting our show for several years the Expo Center at KCI went and sold our date to someone else for 2012. When things are run on a handshake basis sometimes someone forgets about the handshake.
Anyway, this got us off our butts to go look at alternative venues. We have always used the KCI Expo center because it is so easy for people coming by air to get to. The down side has always been that it is well north of KC. KC is such a large place it is impossible to put our show in a place that is convenient for one and all.
After much debate and gnashing of teeth we have selected the DoubleTree Hotel in Overland Park, KS, as our new venue. This is a very nice Hilton owned facility that is about 40 miles south of the airport. Smoking is not permitted in the hotel nor the show facility, but we will have our smoking tent available for one and all. The really nice thing is the tent will be in a wooded area that will help keep the sun away from us. Part of the outside smoking area includes a wooden patio. Unlike the airport venue the DoubleTree is actually near other things. Within 15 minutes you can get to a ton of stores and restaurants.
