My son presented me with this red oak tamper he whittled for me.

He did it all by hand with this knife:

Sanded with several grits of sandpaper and finished with gunstock wax. Proud of it is an understatement.

Thank you all for the many kind words. I am very proud of him and the job he did for his first try ever at carving anything. Oh, and I made a mistake on the wood: it's walnut. He had used a different piece than I thought.
