Hello. Besides aromatics, Lakeland blends & Deer tongue, etc.; will a strong Latakia blend like 10 Russians or Pirate Kake "ghost" your pipes? Also, do you dedicate some pipes for certain blends? Thanks, LeRoy

Yep, one of the hardest to remove from estates.
I do have several blend specific pipes.
I don’t let Latakia blends touch any pipe I might want to smoke a Virginia out of. Ghosts it to hell. I usually keep it away from my aromatic pipes as well unless it’s an aro-English with light Latakia.
Everything will ghost a pipe, it's just a matter of degree. I can taste the Perique or Orientals if I smoke a VaPer or VaOr in one of my dedicated Virginia pipes. It's not as strong as Latakia and will go away after four or five bowls. Latakia will host a pipe a lot and it usually takes some effort to rid the pipe of that taste. I don't get how anybody tolerates Lakelands and they will ruin a pipe for anything but Lakeland blends.

sigh Latakia does not ghost a pipe. It gives it purpose. It's like putting nitromethane into a dragster. Without it, it's just a large, rolling paperweight. Right after they fill up the tank, you know something wonderful is going to happen.

I love latakia/oriental blends and have pipes for those blends only. I also have pipes which are used only for aromatic blends.
It takes far too much time and effort to exorcise and banish those ghosts completely.

I loaned a Kaywoodie to a friend who thought he’d try pipes. He ghosted the poor thing with every conceivable aro. I’ve been smoking it regularly. I couldn’t get through the first bowl in it but now it’s just fine. Smoke through it. All ghosts have vacated the premises.

It's like no one else on here ever gets an estate pipe that has an aromatics ghost. Those ghosts I can't stand, because ruining my smoke with a cherry or fruit roll up baby food taste is far worse than adding a tiny hint of latakia to my smokes. I wish all estate pipe would come with a warning, "This pipe is ghosted with something tooty fruity." This would save me from having to just toss that SOB in the garbage. Cause those aromatics seep that sugary shit right down into the pores of the pipe.
