I'm a big fan of BCF and to tell the truth I was a little disappointed with the last batch that was released. It seemed lackluster and almost missing the chocolate altogether. Indeed all of the GH&C blends in the last release seemed to receive much criticism here and elsewhere.

Still I kept some in a pocket jar for convenience and various outings. Well image my surprise, and delight, when I loaded up some at the pipe show this weekend and it was back to what I remembered! A little Lakeland and good chocolate in harmony with a great tobacco flavor. mmmmmmm

I can't remember how many months ago I bought this particular tin but I'm now very happy and the disappointment I experienced before is gone.

Now I truly have hope for my beloved Scotch & Louisiana Flakes from the same batch.

If, like me, you were disappointed with you last order of GH&C try it now or give it a bit more time. Hopefully you have a similar experience.

I have gotten to the point that when I open a tin, I either throw it in a jar or put the lid back on and then toss it in the back of the cabinet for about a month. It gives the tobacco some time to mellow (looking at you Dreams of Kadath and your nail polish smell fresh out of the tin) and improve.

I've found GH&Co to benefit from a couple of weeks (even months) of travel rest.

Judging by the nicotine levels and its perceived half life during the travel rest period, I've felt the recent releases have been "fresher" than they used to be. Could just be they're not sitting on shelves for much since they're so popular now.

Damn. I had hoped reports of a perceived flavor diminution would ease the stampede for GH.

I have lots of tins of non GH open that I am more or less currently smoking. I put the open tin in a zip lock. Almost invariably the blends seem better after a month or so.
