Member "Dixie" has sent me a few pipe links that he thought I would enjoy and he passed along this 755 Conquest shape this afternoon, sold on Etsy (he has a good eye!). I rarely think about checking Etsy, but couldn't resist a new GBD shape.
The price was right and it looks restorable, so I grabbed it. Until this point, I've never seen a Shape 755. It is not listed on the GBD chart (there is a 753, listed as an Author with 1/8th bent stem). I have converted that online shape chart to Excel and I've been adding in new numbers as they are encountered. Google did show that SmokingPipes currently has a 755, and they call it a Chubby Apple. The finish is "Century" and the "Conquest" stamp is for a plus-sized pipe. (below Collector and Colossus)
Here's the pipe from the ad, I'll post pictures when it is restored. I might try Dave G's stripping method to restain this one.
Thanks Dixie!

Nice find Al! Dixie did you a good one. Is it just me or is the shank unusually thick for a pipe that size? I like it. Can't wait to see it all fixed up. Even though it just looks like a little reaming.

Very nice find Al! Can't wait to see the "after" pics.
Do you care to explain Dave G's stripping method?
Cheers,
J

Thanks a lot Al! Bookmarked.
And, of course, thank you Dave!
Do you know of anything similar for blasted o rusticated pipes?
Cheers,
J

Unusual shape and a fine pipe certainly much more beautiful after the refurb. Hope you post pics. Gotta get me some skills and start sleuthing in the way that you do, Al. Congratulations!

@4nogginsmik - There was no sleuthing on my part for this one - member Dixie PM'd me and thought I might be interested!
The pipe arrived today, it is BIG, but no surprises. The stem, other than oxidized, is in great shape. I'll start on it tomorrow.

The 755 came the other day and I finished it this evening. It turned great and had very few issues. I had planned to resell it, but after working on it, I'm a bit taken by the shape (Lovat?) so it stays for now.

Looks great,

I like that shape too, I can't recall seeing it around much either...
Until this point, I've never seen a Shape 755.
