An interesting one. I have not been a rope or twist smoker, never chewed tobacco in all my years, but a spirit of adventure overcame me in the first days of the new year.

Stage one was to take the fairly dry, been on the shelf a while twist and cut a slice from it with my Buck 110. I stuck it between cheek and gum as if born to it; there it stayed for a good 90 minutes while I went out and about grocery shopping. No, I didn't keel over from nicotine, in fact I was quite content and managed my chores admirably, not feeling the cold too much etc. Enjoyed the cherry / blackberry and cigar-like flavors, very pleasant.

Some time later, I cut a piece more and rubbed it out, stuffed it into the meer bowl on the Falcon - which is a tad ghosted from Island Mixture, but the fruit flavor from that complemented the twist. One match and I was on my way, gently puffing to the end. It's actually quite mild, no bite, good nic hit and a nice change from the previous smokes in this bowl.

I see some pretty negative reviews of this one but they're quite undeserved. This is nice tobacco, chewed or smoked, and I didn't find myself making excuses for it. I will repeat and enjoy a chew in bed later, seems ideal for that when a pipe is impractical. I think other reviewers should grow a pair, tbh.

I got about 3 ounces of it.
TBH and it’s probably just to my liking but I would rather smoke just the brown Irish twist without any topping.

I tried whiskey/run/cherry.
I was excited to finally get my hands on the cherry too. I had high hopes. I can say I like the cherry over the whiskey and rum though.

I think the cherry gave it smoothness, which most people would want. But I just bought a whole twist of the brown Irish over the cherry flavored 😀

I have 2 oz of it and I have really enjoyed the cherry. Subtly sweet and the tobacco still shines through.
I couldn’t get as much of the regular tobacco to shine through enough for me. While it’s not bad, the twist is good natural for me.

I'd say this is a fair assessment.
If I could get more of the cherry flavor or more of the original tobacco flavor it would probably be amazing for me.
But the way they balanced it (by design) it’s just not enuf of either for me to smoke it.

On the brighter side 3 days ago I bought a G&H brown Irish twist X so there’s a whopping 17 ounces of goodness.

I'd recommend you try their brown bogie also if you get the chance. It's my favorite out of all their twists.

Thought all the brown twists were the same just different size.
I got some brown bogie in a bag. Just need to cut the rope and smoke it.

I know, leave it to the American Market to rave about the twists where the actual tobacco taste is covered up in the fruit goop. It is sort of a waste of this type of tobacco.

You guys are why the Scandinavians laugh at us. puffy

Some brown twists are different but you are correct that Irish is supposed to be the same as Bogie just bigger. Their flavor profile does not come across as being the same to me however. I'm not sure if the ratio of fired to air cured is slightly different or if it's something else.

Great little review! I recently picked up some Cherry, Whiskey, Rum, and Aromatic Brown Irish X twists to try since I'm a big fan of Brown Bogie and am looking forward to giving them a go! It'll probably be a couple weeks before I get around to trying them, since they don't exactly smell appealing to me, but then again neither does Brown Bogie and I love that stuff.

It is odd how much looser the wrapper leaves are in the Irish X sized twists than the Bogies though, they really didn't twist 'em very tight at all and I think about half my 1 ounce samples of the various flavored twists are wrapper leaves that had just fallen off the ropes. I suppose that's what scissors are for though! 😅

I think Black Cherry Twist is awesome, and I really don’t like cherry anything. I get more brown and cigar notes than cherry when I smoke it.
But I’ve got the palate of a goat.

My favorite twist so far is the Brown (sliced). I tend to slice and rub out a jar’s worth at a time anyway, so it’s awesome to just have a big jar to stuff and puff from. Maybe rubbing out instead of smoking filled coins changes the profile a bit.

Really think the tobacco flavor is covered up in the brown Irish twist?
To me it seemed like the nearest thing to old fashion dirt smoking tobacco I could imagine.

I really enjoy the brown twist. (Hold the toppings for me, just straight)

I’ll take a bourbon neat hold the junk.
