I am looking to buy a full bent pipe that I can clench, but would like to know what line/brand/artisan I should go with for the best odds of getting a good smoker.
I'm really not worried about aesthetics as much as function, but I do prefer smooth finishes and acrylic stems. I don't care for filters but don't mind them if they would help the smoke
Some of the pipes I have been looking at are the:

Savinelli 614

Chacom 1206

Boswell on Tuesday

Castello

Maybe Vauen?

Or was considering trying to contact Sas at BST pipes because I've seen him on here and looks like he does a great job with deep bends.
I would love any input to help me get pointed in the right direction and take care of this PAD!

Of the big ones, Chacom is maybe the worst for drillng that I have seen. I had a Sav 614 that was okay. I have a Castello that is more than okay, it's really an excellent smoker.
I'm happy to chat about a commission, but I'm about a month out on those right now, having a bit of a backlog.
I think the "right" answer here depends largely on the things you find important in a pipe.

I highly recommend Castello ( I have several and not a bad one in the bunch)! I've never owned one of Sasquatch's pipes but they earn high praises from many here.

Thank you for the responses!

I would say the most important thing to me would be good, open drilling, with minimal gurgling or turbulence. I have a Peterson Donegal Rocky 69 that the draught hole is tight and also enters high into the mortise, it's far from my favorite pipe...
The size is another thing that has been hard for me especially when I'm just seeing them online other than the 614. I am trying to stay towards the smaller jaw hanging size
Acrylic stem becomes important to me when it comes to pipes over the $100 price range because I don't want to deal with oxidation.

Ash, I've heard nothing but good things about radiator pipes but I also have a wife that hassles me for coming outside with a cob instead of a briar. I don't think she could handle something that different. Haha

Recently I got this full bent Castello Occhio di Pernice from Michael of Briar Blues. It smokes drier than any pipe I have smoked. It is a joy to sip while reading. And just look at the bird's eye, i.e., "The Eye of the Peacock" :puffy:

There are a world of these, all over the price and brand range. So you can probably zero in by starting with a price range and then sampling around. Even before that, you need to decide if you are looking for new or estate/used pipes, and if you are looking for factory pipe or artisan. Then you might have special interest in specific materials and finish. So narrow all that down. Recommendations amount to wild guesses. Two commendable moderately priced full bent pipes that come to mind are the Savinelli Hercules Oom-Paul, a fine big bowl without much total weight, and a good clencher, and the Peterson brandy B11 sitter, a graceful design with a generous chamber and a classic design. The B11 comes in different series and price ranges. Happy hunting. Let Forums know what you select.

Thomas, that pipe is gorgeous. I had been watching it for a long time but am too cheap to spend that much on a new pipe. You should start a thread for that puppy, it deserves it.
In regards to the OP and his full bent. Why do you want a full bent? What is it that you think you are going to get smoking wise in comparison to a 1/4 or and 1/8th bent? One thing you should think about is that many full bents don't pass a pipe cleaner, for me that is a deal breaker.

I agree with Harris, which in itself is something , but if you are set on a full or 3/4 bent, I would definitely check out Ser Jacopo pipes. New or estate, the 1/2 bent and 3/4 bent that I have pass a pipe cleaner with no problem. They seem to pride themselves on having this feature, and they're darn good smoking pipes!

One compelling reason to get a full bent is if you don't have one. You can't resist filling the gap if you have other straight and degrees of bent, but not that. It's like, an emergency. Or, sometimes that's the way I am.

Exactly mso! Full bent is that shape that half the people tell you to stay away from while the other half say they are great. I don't see how it's not worth the chance of having a hands free great smoker. Orley is right about passing a pipe cleaner, that is a great advantage.
Also, no one can ask why you would want a full bent when you see a castello like Thomas's! That is one amazing looking pipe

The Moretti is nice looking, but based on the thickness of the walls, probably very heavy. Not a good clencher in all likelihood .

I love my Hungarians (aka Oom Paul) and don't care that it's difficult or impossible to pass a cleaner to the bowl.
