I Just started smoking this pipe ive had it some time but never got round to smoking it .So i thought id have a bowl today.On my first try i was using mcbaren origional and its a briar so i thought id give it a go.The problem was with this pipe it tasted different to my others in a big way.In fact it tasted weired the tobbacco tasted different totally.It smoked well and went out only once at the start of me smoking it.I Got about 35mins to 40 mins out of it.And surprizing it wasnot burning that hot.Its not a fancy pipe.and standard shape.And to be quiet honest its the first time i dont know if i like the pipe or not.Later i thought id try cube mcbarens a bit stronger but again it tasted different.To be honest its the first time ever im confused i like it and i dont so i dont know.Theres no ghosts in it i cleaned it alchahol salt as i always have done.But its not tasting the tobbacco as it should.It sounds really crazy i know but its strange smoking it and theres no umph there.Tomorrow im cutting some twist up.Has anyone had pipes like this ive been smoking loads of pipes over the years but none like the taste of this.So i dont know if i like it or not very annoying

Are you sure it is a briar? Is it new? Has it been broken in? Are you perhaps burning the wood with that 40 minute burn??

lots of variables here. but if u never got around to smoking it yes, as u stated, then im thinkin its either new or new to u. either way, its gotta be broke in so it would taste diff for a few bowls or if its new to u, u gotta smoke the ghosts outa it.

yes guys its a old one its gotta be a ghost taste its the only explanation its a good strong pipe and in good condition its definatly a briar.And it shows me not always salt and alcahol works.I Just seem drawn to this pipe its comfy in my hand and if i can smoke out more i think it will be a great pipe.Its all a pipe should be its just getting rid of the taste to get it correct
