Full Virginia. Mottled blonde, somewhat crumbly flakes that are somehow 'soft' to the touch. Perhaps a little dark honey topping in the tin note. A half-hour's drying and a cube-cutting and it's good to go.
Overall, it's mild and very pleasant. The topping does bring some sugariness to the taste but it's subtle, and integrated well with the typical Va grassiness and citrus and - further down the bowl - deeper tones of bready malt and raisins. Burns very well, if not particularly slowly. No harshness and no bite. It doesn't knock my socks off, but without doubt it's an exemplary mild Va. A few months' breathing time will do a lot for it.
