I am a new pipe smoker. I've enjoyed pipes a couple times before but don't know anything about it. I just happened to grab the first pipe I found out of my dad and grandfather's pipes. It is a Charatan's make 120 reg.No.652872. I was just curious of it's history and value and would appreciate anyone's input. I plan to go through the others and catalog them as well.

Thanks,

Nathan George

Welcome, Nathan!
What did you smoke in the Charatan?
There are some experts on that marque here, but even so, photos are invaluable.
Once your photos are on a photo hosting site (such as Imgur.com; Postimage; Dropbox, etc. Photobucket), or on virtually any site, (including this site's album) such as eBay, Amazon, you-name-it, select the full sized image, then Control-click (Mac) or Right-click (Windows) on the image itself, then choose "copy image location" or similar words. Now paste that URL (the full web address, which should end in .jpg or .png) into the IMG box in the reply window of the thread you're posting to.
The site's album is also a good choice for displaying photos, and the same method works for obtaining the image's URL for copying into the IMG box.

Heck of a way to start in, congratulations on they being part of your family’s heritage and ownership as well, warm regards.

According to my Charatan catalog, the 120 is a large Lumberman. Let's see some pix. Hopefully Ken Barnes will see this and be able to offer some dating assistance. He almost literally grew up in the Charatan factory. His father was the General Manager of Charatan.
