I can't seem to find any help sections for the website/forum and I'm afraid to post a request for advice/help because every time you post something in a forum, people yell at you for starting a new thread instead of searching for what your topic is. Well I've searched and I can't find any answers so here it goes...and if there really are no help/FAQ sections, let this thread be where you can post technical forum questions.
My main issue here is: how do you access the threads that you've posted in already? I log off for the day and the next day I log on, I want to be able to check to see if any replies have been made in the threads I have participated in. I can't find this! How do I find the threads I've posted in? A kind and courteous answer is all I'm looking for :)

Welcome aboard!

I'll try to help as best I can. There are a couple of ways to keep up with things you've posted or replied to. One way is to add a topic to your favorites. To do this, look at the top right of the thread you want to favorite, ad click add to favorites. Once you do this, you need to go to your profile, and make sure email notifications are turned on for favorites. The other way, is to go to the bottom of the forums page, and find your name among those who are online, click your name to go to your profile, then click activity, and you'll see a list of threads you have either started or replied to showing the most recent activity. Hope this helps.

Funny...when I click "Your Profile" it says "Forbidden URL" even though I'm logged on...using Safari on my Mac. No offense to the admins or users, but this forum, as fun and as much as I'm enjoying it, seems to be lacking in features. For example, how do you reply someone or add them as a friend? Perhaps it is just my browser but many features I'm accustomed to in forums seem to be missing or not working here...
but I am thankful to be a part of this community :)

That's what I do.

Ok, the issue here is that there are two different profiles, ect. You have one for the main magazine page, and another for the forum, you have to access the forum profile, and the easiest way is to do the click on your name at the bottom of the the forum page as suggested. As for adding friends, that has to be done from the list of people on the main magazine page on the left-hand side. You can choose from newest, most recently active, and popular on the site, select who you want to add and click send friend request.

Thanks for asking the question. I have been trying to figure out why my forum avatar didn't change when I had changed it in my main profile. I had forgotten the forum profile was different. This jogged my memory.

Damn it why do we always get all the people who don't know everything about the forums in their first day?? WHY!
heh listen to Jud, no one is going to pounce on you like that around here.
I use the "RSS Feed for this topic" option that is at the bottom of every thread ... Firefox has a special section for RSS Feed bookmarks and you can keep a big laundry list of your favorite threads organized that way.

I think people put links to other post to help, but don't worry about asking questions. You'll never learn without asking and its OK if we have more than one thread for one question, if people don't want read it they don't have to.

Welcome aboard Joe.

I use Safari as well.

The site can seem a bit complex at first, but there many different ways of doing a lot of things.

If you have some specific questions about how to perform something in particular...

Lordnoble (Jason), markw4mms (Mark), or my self (pstlpkr) Lawrence are the Moderators and will be more than happy to assist you.

Just send us a PM either on the Main Forum page (right column, just below the search box, or on the Main Magazine Page. Just open up your "Main" profile and select the message function. (the latter will place a Notification at the top of the page under (oddly enough) "Notifications". :D

Don't worry about what might seem to you to be a silly or dumb question...

It's the question that doesn't get asked, that the dumb question.

I have been smoking a pipe for more than 35 years, and have learned more in the past two years than in the previous 33.
Dive in and have fun!

Hey Joe, welcome. No-one yells around here, just the occasional pompous, snied, backhander remark that thankfully usually gets squashed pretty quickly by the masses.
The forum layout & dualities around here are a tad disconcerting and nothing comes easily giggle i.e. 2 profiles, 2 places for private messages can be found, and, heaven forbid, try to figure out how to invite someone to be your friend, I'd rather climb Everest. I just stick to the basics and remain sane :)

The others have already done an admirable job of answering your question. This is a general comment from one who has spent over a year here. Ask what you will, Joe. You'll not be disrespected on this forum.
