I think there are at least a few here who share my keen interest in all things old west, so I thought I'd post this article I just came across. Aside from the discovery of the photo being an original, there are some other very interesting details.

Slightly off topic but they still have not figured out were Doc Holliday is really buried! I have also wondered if Butch and Sundance ever returned to the U.S or if they destined to be like DB Cooper one of those mysteries that never really gets solved.

He was definitely buried in the potters field of the Linwood Cemetery in Colorado. They know he was buried there, just not his exact spot within the cemetery.

Shit, I knew I shoulda snapped a photo of Robert Redford when I had the chance...
Slightly off-topic but when I was skiing in Austria early 2000's I got talking to the husband of my Ski Instructor. He is also a ski instructor and fully qualified high alpine guide. Some years earlier he'd gone out to Colorado and whilst there decided to do some heli-skiing. Given the conditions when he met up with the rest of the group they were all goggled up and not taking those off until after the came back off the mountain.

One of the other guy's in the party introduced himself as Rob and they spent the day skiing together with the Austrian giving him some tips on technique etc. Got back in the afternoon and said their goodbyes and he thought no more about it. Got back to his hotel after dinner that night to find a small package of goodies, a thank you note and a signed photo from Rob, aka Robert Redford.

Actually, same resort in Austria I used to stay with some friends in a small Pension run by an elderly Austrian. He had signed photos of James Stewart and photos of the two of the together, on the slopes, in the ski lodge and at Stewarts's home at Christmas; shortly after the war our Austrian host had travelled to the US and spent a few years teaching Hollywood stars to ski and became good friends with James Stewart.
