If you wondered why I didn't put "keyboard" among the instruments, that B3 chord pad sound starting halfway through Cut Me to the Bone is the bass player playing the bass line with his left hand hammer-on style, while his right hand is reaching over and tapping and holding chords in the middle of the neck at the same time. As in, he's playing two instruments (so to speak) at once, one a counterpoint to the melody, and the other the walking bass line.

It's absolutely insane. He does it when playing live, no problem, on that song and several others. Roscoe Beck is his name. A legend among electric bassists (but unknown to the world at large, which goes with the territory).

Yeah that's all well and good George, but how is one supposed to subliminally mind-control the youth to be gender fluid and believe in global warming without autotune?

I'll wait for an answer... 😐

I'd give you one, but that would just get the thread locked. rotf

Much better to let the music do the talking. As in, THAT is how today's geezers and boomers made music Back in the Day.

If it opens the eyes of a few kids on this forum who thought music only could be made by DJs "playing" computers plugged into a soundboard, I'll call it a win.

I saw him play at a late night jam session with Warren Haynes (Govt Mule) during the New Orleans Jazz festival. Afterhours, the musicians like to to hang out at the Rock & Bowl. (my daughter was tutoring the owners kids at the time, we got an invite). Yeah, talent always rises to top.
