The artistry is simply amazing! It's beyond me how they can obtain such precision and realism by freehand carving.
when you see the intricacy of the higher end - $500.00 or even $3,800.00 pipes you just salivate.
I am always amazed at how skilled people can be with their hands I could never make anything like that I just dont have the talent, I hope the actual carvers see a good portion of the money paid for a pipe. In fact briar and meerschaum pipes both seem pretty Labour intensive I could imagine them selling for more than they currently do
