Hello Everyone, In a few weeks time I will be flying to the fabulous Las Vegas. I figured I should prepare myself as early as I can, I have my travelers insurance, I have a US bank account with more than a few greenbacks so I don't need to rely on credit cards, and I called into the CATSA (Canadian version of the American TSA) Sky Nazis. (if you work for either agency I only kid, though a few of your coworkers could learn to A: Chill out and B: not leave the caps open on my shampoo and soap ((sorry long rant)) ) to see what smoking materials I can take with me... turns out I can take everything but my matches. I'm more than sure that someone is going to have a fit with my pipe tool but if they decide to take it I'll be able to get another one with wooden matches at my hotels smoke shop.
Do you guys think I might have over looked anything? I have a few cubans cigars but I don't think they are long for this world anyway. Thanks in advanced!

I thought matches were ok, it was lighters that were the problem??
Cubans being illegal in the US, I would leave at home to avoid any hassles...Just my opinion.
Pipe tool, sometimes they get through and other times not...It just demends on what Sky Nazi you get!
From TSA.gov...
"Strike anywhere" matches are prohibited in carry-on baggage and checked baggage. Limited quantities of safety matches are permitted.

The U.S. Department of Transportation limits individuals to one book of matches on board an aircraft. One book of safety matches is allowed in checked baggage.
Even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed through the checkpoint if it triggers an alarm during the screening process, appears to have been tampered with, or poses other security concerns. The final decision rests with TSA on whether to allow any items on the plane.

If your going through American customs and 'declare' your Cuban cigars, they'll take them from

you. If you don't declare them and they find them, you'll be detained/delayed.

I was actually planning on avoiding their shop, I've heard that basically you stand in line outside for an hour, get to move along still in line, then out you go. I'm not interesting in playing sheep no matter how awesome the estate pipes are.

Visited the shop when I was out there. Wasn't a line, but none of the guys were in the shop anyway. And most the refurb jobs you see done on the show are still in there.

Also wanted to mention, I take Vic lighters on the plane all the time. As long as not a torch lighters can fly on US flights anyway.

As far as the Pawn Stars goes, my advice is checking em out late morning on a Sunday. Might be a little less crowded. Sometimes it's a two or three hour wait. And btw they didn't have any pipes when I went with my dad in June.
If you have a rental car or plan on taking a cab somewhere, if you take a cab I'll say a prayer for you cause those guys drive like maniacs, checkout the Tobacco Leaf. It's probably the best tobacconist in Vegas. Big humidor and also one of the biggest selections of pipe tobacco in the city and they have a lot of pipes for sale as well. There's usually a few guys hanging out enjoying a cigar or pipe in the front and it has a smoking lounge in the back. The address is:
7175 W Lake Mead Blvd

Ste 120

Las Vegas, NV 89120
If you're wondering about good eateries give me a PM. I've lived in Vegas for ten years now and know just about all the good local eateries in town. Have fun and don't lose more money than you can afford to lol.

You are allowed one butane OR Zippo style lighter only from what I remember last year when I went to the UK from Canada. Besides that, pipe tool went in checked baggage and the rest carry on. No problems here.
