All Florida pipe smokers, and anyone that enjoys any form of tobacco and lives in the state of Florida has little time to act so do it now.
There is a bill that could become effective this July that would allow individual municipalities to pass outdoor smoking bans. There's a link to an automated petition set up by the Cigar Rights of America, but this is not just to protect cigars, it is for all smokers, so please do this now if you live in Florida.

Whoa... this no good. I live in Titusville(space coast). I went ahead and signed the petition though. I thought FL might have a bit more chance from the antis than this. I smoke publicly everywhere, and never have a problem.

Seems like all this anti smoking stuff is happening quickly. When it rains is pours. A great man once said 'when life gives you lemons, paint that sh*t gold!'

I signed the the petition, they are getting crazy with this stuff. They are really trying to turn this into the communist states of america aren't they. You think they might try to prohibition soon? What the hell is happening to our rights. Freedom is what I thought this country was founded on, but they seem to be trying to take it from us!

BP screwed up my waters and fishing and now the gov. wants to take away my rights. What do they expect me to do as I sit and watch the tar balls wash up on my beaches? :crying:

How do they even enforce such a law? Are you still allowed to smoke on your own lawn? "Land of the free", indeed.

If you can't smoke outside where you don't bother anyone, just where the heck are you allowed too. This is getting rediculous. I fought for my countries freedom and now they give them away so easily. Thge world is going crazy right now. And with all the important things they should be worrying about, why do they waste time on these laws?

Hey guys, please take a few seconds and re-post your comments from here onto the article too?
Again, the articles get seen by a lot of people that do not look at the forums.
Thanks in advance.

As someone who lives in an area which has what amounts to an outdoor smoking ban on the books (you cannot smoke within 6 meters of any windows, doorways, air intakes or bus stops, in public parks, on municipal, federal or provincial government grounds, on restaurant/pub patios, etc.), I can say that although this does really suck, the law is pretty much unenforcable. Yes, for the first couple of weeks the laws were on the books, you felt like a criminal every time you lit up, but lets face it, police these days have too much to worry about without having to watch for stray smokers, never mind the pile of paperwork that awaits any officer making an arrest/writing a ticket.
I don't agree with the general idea, but there is life after public smoking bans.

I already signed the Florida petition at the Cigar Rights website. It happened in NYC and the Florida east coast is little more than a suburb of New York. It CAN happen here guys. Pay attention and let your voice be heard.
