Hey yall. i am a big fan of my Local B&M's Antique Black Cavendish and seeing as how i have smoked that as my every bowl smoke for over two months i was wanting to try something different. do any of yall have any thoughts? i like tobacco with a nice room note and a solid flavor but am willing to try absolutely anything.

Thats a real loaded question - to some, Lat. bombs smell wonderful (I know the smell of burning tires makes my mouth salivate), while to others, they smell simply like burning tires...
So, that said, if you want to try some more tobacco forward flavoured blends; I would suggest the following:

Aromatic: Peterson's University Flake

Aromatics containing Latakia: Sterling Tobacco My Buddy

Oriental: Dunhill Early Morning Pipe

OTC Burley: Carter Hall

Dk. Fired Burley (strong tobacco!): Peterson's Irish Flake
You might also try and get in on the Newbie Sampler Trade action going on.

If you're looking to try a flavorful aromatic that leaves a good room note definitely give Connoisseur's Choice by Peterson a try. It is by far my favorite blend right now. I'll have a nice big full bowl of that with an ice cold glass of Bailey's on the rocks and I'm in heaven. Peterson also has a few other good aro's like Sweet Killarney which has a creamy caramel casing, as well as Sherlock Holmes which has a casing most say is apricot but I tend to feel it smells a little more like raspberry truffle candies, and there's my current second favorite blend De Luxe Mixture which has a casing of honey, walnut, and vanilla. I haven't tried Sunset Breeze or Gold Blend but I've heard they aren't too bad. I also love Stanwell's Melange and all of the blends from the Lord Of The Rings series at justforhim.com . I'm a huge aromatic fan, as English blends don't tend to sit well with my stomach. So I could go on for days about awesome aro blends. But for now I'll stop here.

I also love Stanwell's Melange

I agree with everything up till this... Sorry Lordofthe, I have to part ways here.

That stuff ghosted my pipes worse than anything I have ever smoked and it made them taste like a lemon. Not my cup-o-tea.

However; fshu2, It seems that you may like the idea of bulk tobaccos. Black Cavendish is an old standby at many B&M's. I would recommend... wait for the "Oh here he goes again"'s to die down... 1Q as a great "go to" smoke. There are others that are usually on the counter too. Don't be shy, stick your nose in them and then give them a try. One bulk you may have to ask for is Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Bulls Eye Flake. It's a great tobacco at a reasonable price.

Stokkebye tobaccos are excellent and at a very good price (wonder if I can get a job with them LOL!!) I favor the luxury Flakes and the English blends.

I agree about the price of PS blends. Makes you wonder how in hell they make such great tobacco and sell it so cheap ???

Maybe if Arthur gets a job at Stokkebye, he'll hook us all up with his employee discount ? Just imagine how many mason jars we'll need then :)

Cant go wrong w/BOSWELLS or Pipeworks & Wilke blends either. As a matter of fact, venturing out as you are will prove to be a CANT GO WRONG sojourn and you will make your own list of likes and dislikes. G'luck, happy hunting.

Hah I'll probably get some weird looks for this one but Mixture No.79 has quickly become one of my favourites. I love the flavour and the smell it leaves in the room but it could definitely be considered an acquired taste. If anything could be considered an American 'lakeland' this would be it. I'd definitely recommend smoking it in a cob first but it is an OTC so picking up pouch and not liking it wouldn't break the bank. Coincidentally I've also become a pretty big fan of Gawith Hoggarth's Ennerdale recently. Peterson's University Flake would complete my (meager and ongoing) list of aromatics done right. Aside from my love of OTC's it's typically Balkan or English blends for me. I've also found a good deal of love for Billy Bud and Pirate Kake from C&D. Billy Bud is a heavy and robust Latakia bomb of a blend (which I like) and Pirate Kake is a veritable Lat-om Bomb of a blend that is surprisingly smooth for what it is. Pirate Kake doesn't have a lot of complexity to it but if you're a Latakia lover and you're in the mood for it (the only way to know the mood is after smoking it once) it's a really great blend imo. Key Largo from G.L. Pease also left me feeling good, relaxed, and enamoured with it.

Here is a few worth trying. If you go to Boswell you consider some of his other blends because I only recommend the one's I've enjoyed.
Peter Stokkebye - B – B, French Vanilla
Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening, Nutty Irishman
Mac Baren - Vanilla Cream Flake. Vanilla Cream Loose Cut
Lane Limited - 1-Q, RLP-6
Boswell - Bear Blend, Pennsylvania Dutch Treat, No Bite DeLite
Just For Him - Shortcut To Mushrooms, Ruins of Isengard
