Why should I move from Loose cuts to Flakes or Pressed Tobacco, since I am going to have to rub it any way turning it into a loose cut? That is NOT a rhetorical question!
I've been smoking loose cut, a couple of day ago I tried some Flake and ... Nothing special. If it's a good blend it is a good blend no matter what, isn't it?
I am a beginner I know but really what are the advantages in Flake?

To me the flavors seem to be hightened in flake form. The pressing process seems to intensify the flavors to me. Also, you can use the fold and stuff method with flakes. I find they burn smoother, cooler, and longer when you do that as opposed to rubbing the flake out. On youtube Dubinthedam has a very good intro to flakes video. Might want to check it out.

I don't rub out my flakes. I break 'em up a bit to stuff them in the bowl, but that's it.

Flakes tend to smoke cooler and more slowly. (I asked the same question years ago.)

I don't move from one blend to another based on processing or presentation (flake, ribbon, crumble cake, rope, etc.)

My guiding principles are taste and the fun in exploring the different brands. What form the blend takes is dictated by the

blender's desire to achieve a particular effect on the tobaccos in the blend. I merely cope with what the blender provides. :puffy:

I never bust up my flake...simple; dry them out good enough , fold/stuff

and oh-oh-oh the flavor! They require more work like this on tamp'in and

such but I find the flavor and complexity they deliver is well worth

the extra work IMHO
