Heres my first kit pipe. I still have a couple things to sand/buff and its almost done. I'm also waiting for the carnuba wax I ordered to get here... What do you think?
(yeah I know theres a gap where the stem goes in. The wood really fought me at times!)

I highly recommend that you use and keep this pipe. This will set the standard for all the other pipes you make. I still have the first bowl I made, when I bought my first lathe. Everytime I look at it, I think, "Man, have I come a long way since then!"
The pipe has great grain, good shape, and looks comfortable. No one expects a first pipe to be perfect. Enjoy it!

I like it!

Should smoke great, and there are some nice birds eyes on the top.

The overall grain looks good too.

Great job!

Make some more!

Nice work. I commend anyone that can produce a useful and good looking item from a hunk of wood. I'm still trying and the wood is still winning.

Keep up the good work. That looks like it'll be a comfortable smoker.
One of these days I'm gonna find the courage to pop for a kit pipe -- if only to see how much sawdust I can create.

Cortezattic, If you are only concerned with how much sawdust you can create, just hold a 2x4 against a beltsander for a while. Or cheaper yet, find a branch that has fallen down in the backyard. If you are really into sawdust, visit a sawmill. For a couple $, the owner will probablly let you shovel all the dust under the sawmill into the back of your vehicle.
FYI, the title I gave myself for my woodturning business is Senior Vice President of Mulch Production. I may or may not have a salable bowl when I am done, but I will have mulch.
