This is just a little informal opinion of this blend as I am not good at picking out distinct flavors. The moisture was very good out of the tin. The baccy was a little sticky but was easily broken up into a fine ribbon cut. I found some very dark strands along with some very light strands(some almost white). It smelled of hearty baccy I liked it my spouse not so much. I smoked this in my WGM DAN 98 meer and the bowl packed very easily. I packed it just slightly on the loose side.
I fired it up and was hit by a pleasantly strong zesty deep rich tobacco taste. The burn was very good and I only required 1 relight. At times I thought I could detect a slight citrus flavor but the rich tobacco flavors were always at the front. I really enjoyed this blend a lot and will be buying much more. To my taste buds this is full flavored and is med-strong on the strength an nic content.

I have a real love/hate relationship with H&H Virginia blends but I REALLY love all their latakia mixtures. This one sounds like it will be worth having a tin or 5. Thanks for posting. Sounds pretty tasty.

masspiper, I tried it last week and I agree with you. I was almost immediately hit with a zesty, citrus, almost tart sensation but it disappeared later through the bowl. Overall, it was a very good smoke.

I had my first bowl today. It's a great summer LAT blend, slight smokiness but,oh, that citrus note cools down the whole smoke. I did have to dry it for about an hour before I packed. I will be smoking much of this.

Good stuff for sure. Russ brought some to one of our meetings before releasing it and it got a thumbs up from everyone around the table. The man's talent is incredible.

I enjoyed your write-up, but I think you forgot the most significant bit of info: Is it an aromatic or a non-aromatic? From your description of it being "sticky," I'm guessing it's an aro, but you never say. And then you say that your spouse didn't like the aroma, so that makes me wonder. . . (Non-aromatics can certainly have citrus notes.)

Thanks, woodsroad.
But. . . why is it "sticky," then? "Moist" is one thing. . . but "sticky"?

I would say moist. I was able to pack a bowl with the dry tobacco I like in only a short amount of drying time. I think a sticky baccy like Molto Dolce would not dry out if left in the Nevada desert for a few years.

My bad it seemed slightly sticky when I first opened the tin and went to pull out some baccy. It did then break apart really easy into a nice ribbon cut. Fine baccy and a non aromatic for sure. :puffy:

I think part of the reason that the moisture content seems a little higher than normal for H&H blends is the vacuum-sealed tin. There's very little air inside, so the moisture can't settle the way it does in the older tins.

Thanks for the nice comments, by the way.

Russ, the moisture is not a problem and I love the tins. It takes just a short drying time and it's good to go. Between Whiteknight and Magnum Opus I don't think I would really need any other tobacco. Thank you.

There's really nothing quite like it, though it reminds me so much of what I was smoking when I first tried a pipe in the mid-70's.

If you liked Balkan Sobranie Original Smoking Mixture from back in the day (not the current iteration) I think that you will like WhiteKnight. I used to smoke Balkan Sobranie in the '70's and '80's.
A year or so ago I did an informal comparison between WhiteKnight, the current Germain's version, and some 35 year old Balkan Sobranie that was a gift. Allowing for the changes that such long age brings to any blend containing Latakia, the WhiteKnight balance and profile tasted closer to the 35 year old Balkan Sobrainie (as well as what I remembered smoking) than the Germain's version.
It should age well, though Latakia starts losing its punch at around 20 years, + or -.
