I'm not sure exactly what I've got.

one side reads "B.B. Best Briar SUPERIOR" the other reads "made in London England 342B"

google has not been very helpful in my research, any insight is greatly appreciated!

Hey there Dalby. Thanks for posting.
I haven't seen markings that exactly match yours. I have, however, seen many "BBB" (Britain's Best Briar or Blumfeld's Best Briar) in varying iterations. Here is a link to the BBB page on Pipedia: http://pipedia.org/wiki/BBB
Perhaps peruse the page, and see if there are any clues there which match up with what you're seeing on your new find. Your pipe looks clean, from the photo posted. I have built up my collection mostly through the purchase of estate pipes, and love the search for great briar and great deals.
May it smoke well for you for a long, long, time.

thank you gents!

pipedia is a great resource! I don't believe it's a BBB, but it seems like a well crafted piece to my novice eyes.

:)

BBB pipes should have the three B's within a diamond. I have a few BBB 'Best British Briar' pipes and they have all been great smokers. That is a nice looking pipe. Congratulations!

Well, I'd say you got quite lucky there, man.
From where I'm lookin' I'd say it was made by Comoy's,as what's known as a "seconds" under the hardly ever seen BB moniker and it emulates the highly sought-after Dunhill LB shape, so it's a winner indeed! Looks to be in mighty fine condition too! Hope itsa helluva good smoker for you!
Look at the 2nd photo down here on this page:

...if that don't clinch it,

then this most certainly will:

From the Loring pages, exact same numbering stamp 342B !!!
I could be wrong though, I ain't no expert and this is all pure speculation on my part,

but it looks like it's a Comoy's 2nd to me.
But regardless, you gotta damn good deal if this is the pipe ya got:

misterlowercase- that is the ebay auction I won :D

Thanks for the information about the pipe, I've been unable to find it on my own.

after a thorough cleaning, I took it for a test drive- it smokes very well indeed :)
