I finally got around to brewing after moving here last October. Today I brewed a Belgian triple ale. After a few missteps finding missing gear, I got things moving. Below are some pictures of my brew day. I'm a very low tech brewer but I've been doing it for 15 years and it works for me.

12lbs of malted barley

After a 90 minute mash, I drain the liquid called wort into the brew kettle

2oz of Willamette hops to be added to the boil

60 minute boil to reduce from about 6.5 gallons of wort to 5 gallons

Yeast is ready to be pitched into the cooled wort

And that's a wrap. I skipped a few steps to keep this somewhat short. The yeast will now ferment the sugars in the wort converting them to CO2 and alcohol. If all goes well, I'll have an 8.5% ABV beer to drink in a few months. The actual fermentation time is about a week but I like to leave the new beer on the yeast for several weeks to clean up after themselves. I will then cold crash it to clear the beer and then keg it.

Thanks for reading. I hope you found it interesting.

Thanks for sharing. I made and bottled beer for a couple years. I enjoyed it, but eventually just settled for a good Guinness. One year the beer was good flavored with a low alcohol content and the next year it could put you on your ass. Have fun and enjoy.
