My wife & I have lived in our current home since '98..only the second home weve lived in since married in '96. We have discussed, for a couple of years, the idea of moving. Mostly just for a fresh start. A few weeks ago as my last project was winding down, and our next was getting started, it became apparent that, because every trade would be subcontracted, there wasnt enough money in the job to keep any carpenters or con. laborers on, only office personel & a project foreman. The superintendant kept this to himself until just a few weeks were left. Options were..1.move to a diff city/location, 2.be layed off until other possitions in your area are available. Most took the layoff and said I've got unemployment till I find another job. This proposition scared the hell out of me, I know what the job market is like, and without hesitation said ship me out. Houston & Galveston were my options, as I tried to pick, I tried to convince my dear wife this was the opportunity we'd waited for...now we have to move. I was the only one who saw it that way. Finally I went with houston, because I was assured that if I did I could retire there, thats bs I know but the wife bought it. Sold my house to my sister on the condition that we live herr until we find a new home. Then, one week before I should be leaving, I get called into the office, theres a spot in Dallas & if I make an impression I could be thete awhile. Btw I grew up in Dallas & still live very close, I'm 4&1/2 hrs from houston. So I picked Dallas of course. Apparently I made an impression because I've been promoted to foreman. But now we still sold our house...so we started looking around here again. I wasnt being very picky, I want an office, a big back yard for the dog, & waterfront, not to far from where I usually duck hunt. Shouldnt be to hard to find all that in a house that my wife & kids all like right? Wrong.we've looked at so many houses I was about to start dropping my specific desires off because mine were tje ones that always were the kicker, so to speak. But finally two weeks ago we found it, good neighborhood, on the lake, I can canoe to my blind in about 15 minutes, a nice office, huge backyard, and all the stuff my wife wanted too. We sogned yesterday & hope to be move by the first of june. :puffy:

Glad you found what you wanted, but I don't envy you moving!! I'd rather take a beating as move, even though I have been trying to talk my wife into selling and getting a smaller place.

Once Im there I will be sure to Mike. Ive lived within 15 min of three lakes all these years and always wanted to be waterfront..its just a small cove of the lake, but its nice. Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I was home alone today & decided to start packing...10 boxes in I only made a small dent, I'd sure like to know where all this stuff came from. We'll start moving in about two weeks, so we should be in & set up by the first of june, I hope, we're all excited, even my lab perked up when I told her about her new pool
